The UK NMC OSCE examination: Basics and Assessment

The first thing that comes to mind when people hear the NMC UK OSCE, especially for oversea nurses, is “ANOTHER EXAM”? OH GOD. Believe me, that concept of never-ending exams even when you have been a nurse after many years can unsettle one. Another funny thing is how those who are already in UK spread the believes of this exam. First tip- don’t be distracted with these rumors of the exam. Have a plain mind, practice few things, you will ace it.

Now, let’s have a quick overview of what we are talking about.

What is OSCE? Primarily, OSCE translates to ”Objective Structured Clinical Examination”. It is the second part of the NMC test of competence for people joining the register from overseas. Now, there are many things to understand and i will contain them in this sequence of headings:

  1. Preliminary checks for this examination
  2. Base knowledge
  3. Active Knowledge
  4. Practicing
  5. Best passing rates

Before we continue, pls note that this post is not to replace the support that NMC has put in place for you. Our only concern at HealthWorkersbio is to show support to our members from a wide variety of options at their own discernment. We will also be creating an OSCE support group where like minds can meet and share ideas and practice on this exam.
