Nurse and Nursing student? Yes. Akinnawo Simidele Josephine is an alumni of the old and now UNIMED-assimilated “School of Nursing Akure” before proceeding to earn her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Medical Science in Ondo (UNIMED, Ondo). This amazing soul did not only stop at one but claimed 3 other wins (Deans Prize, Nursing Sciences faculty best graduating student, and the Vice-Chancellor’s prize) with a CGPA of 4.83.
Wednesday, the University celebrated 252 graduands with a breakdown of the following figures:
-6 first class students
-106 second class upper honors
-106 second class lower honors
-11 with third class division
Historically, this is the first set of nursing students produced by the University. Speaking with Simidele, she expressed gratitude to God for the success story. In her words:
I feel honoured to be the overall best graduating student of this great institution amongst other accolades. This honour is not for me alone, it’s for my wonderful family because without them, I am nothing.
I am not stopping here I will double up my efforts. I will keep striving to do better and my next dream by the special grace of God is to further my studies, hopefully abroad and someday become one of the few professors of nursing in Africa.
God bless Unimed
God bless Ondo State
God bless Nigeria
